We are currently seeking a full time Patient Care Associate to ensure efficient flow of multiple practice patients within the exam rooms to minimize waiting time and create a positive experience.
Responsibilities- Monitor patient arrival and coordinate patient flow with physician/are team members to ensure a positive patient experience by assessing and anticipating physician schedules and using clinical space effectively;
- Escort patient to exam room, monitor patient wait times, assist patient in preparing for exam and advises physician when patient is ready. Assist during examination if required or requested.
- Performs Pre-Visit Planning:
- Review Patient’s Chart 2 to 3 days prior to scheduled visit:
- Check that all orders (blood, x-ray and referrals) have been completed and into the patient’s medical record.
- Identify preventative care gaps: outstanding immunizations and screenings
- Make reminder calls to patients confirm next appointment date and time.
- Ensures that examining rooms are fully equipped and stocked each day; neatens rooms between procedures; cleans/sterilizes medical instruments; counters, etc.
- Prepares patients for exam by performing preliminary physical tests/documents in EMR:
- Temperature, Pulse, Blood Pressure, Height & Weight
- Point of Care testing i.e.; BGM, Urine Dip
- Reviews current Medication and completes MMAS-8
- Reviews Past Medical & Surgical History
- Documents patients Chief Complaint
- Completes Depression Screen (PHQ2)
- Reviews and completes Health Maintenance Template
- Completes Fall Risk Assessment
- Performs blood draws and EKGs as ordered.
- Assists patients with referrals, appointments, respond to routine inquiries from patients
- Performs electrocardiograms and phlebotomy
- High School graduation or equivalent required; Associates degree or the equivalent in education, training and experience in a clinical practice preferred;
- Excellent interpersonal and English written/verbal communication skills
- Certification as a Medical Assistant required.
- EKG and Phlebotomy training required; certification preferred.
- CPR certification required.
- Computer literacy and passing basic math skills test.
- Pediatrics outpatient experience is preferred
- 1-2 years of experience as a Medical Assistant in a Hospital or Doctor’s office setting preferred. Bilingual if needed.
USD $30.90 - USD $31.47 /Hr.
