Sr. Accountant

Description We are looking for a skilled Senior Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in New York, New York. This role involves overseeing essential financial functions, including payables, receivables, and reconciliations, while ensuring the accuracy of accounting records. The ideal candidate will play a key role in month-end and year-end financial processes, contributing to the organization's fiscal health and efficiency.

Responsibilities:

- Supervise the Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable functions, ensuring timely and accurate processing.

- Process weekly Accounts Payable payments while verifying proper approvals and supporting documentation.

- Manage incoming payments, including box office sales, merchandise revenue, contributions, sponsor ships, and license fees.

- Conduct monthly bank and credit card reconciliations to maintain accurate financial records.

- Perform revenue reconciliations across various income streams on a monthly basis.

- Analyze and reconcile general ledger accounts periodically to ensure data integrity.

- Prepare monthly schedules for financial areas such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, prepaid expenses, and ticket sales revenue.

- Oversee fixed asset accounting, including capital project expenses and related loan management.

- Monitor cash flow and financial pipeline, balancing operational needs with ongoing capital projects.

- Create and present budget-to-actual variance reports to support proactive financial decision-making. Requirements - Extensive experience with month-end financial close processes.

- Proficiency in general ledger systems and journal entry preparation.

- Strong skills in account and bank reconciliation.

- Familiarity with Financial Edge or similar accounting software.

- Knowledge of sales tax reporting and preparation, particularly New York State requirements.

- Ability to manage fixed assets and oversee capital project expenses.

- Demonstrated ability to analyze variances and maintain organizational budgets.

- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills for managing multiple financial tasks.
