Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the Assistant Director, Quality Assurance & Staff Development, the Quality Assurance Coordinator in Retirement Services performs a variety of tasks associated with analyzing, testing and evaluating financial pension calculations and procedures to assure operational and legal compliance requirements are met. The position also provides oversight to adherence of best practices, maintain data integrity, and strengthen operational excellence across all 32BJ pension funds.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Daily audit of pension applications and calculations, including pension projections using actuarial assumptions outlined in Plan documents.
- Ensure ERISA, DOL and IRS compliance in benefit calculations and handling of pension applications.
- Ensure actuarial standards are implemented and followed by staff for all financial calculations, as prescribed by consulting actuaries.
- Enforce department standards for accuracy and timeliness in pension calculations.
- Assist in review of data accuracy for actuarial valuation data files.
- Daily audit of death benefit applications and awards.
- Review of pension communications for accuracy as sent to members.
- Communicate to team members regarding plan rules and best practice initiatives and changes.
- Research and respond to participant escalations.
- Provide timely feedback regarding performance and training needs of team members to RS Director.
- Prepare feedback of QA findings and work on development plans with supervisory staff.
- Daily audit of death benefit applications and awards.
- Assist in designing workflows and checklists to standardize processes and minimize risk.
- Conduct testing system enhancements for compliance to Plan rules.
- Perform other relevant, related, or pertinent work duties as requested or assigned by management.

- Minimum of 4 years of pension/defined benefit calculation or actuarial experience.
- Excellent analytical skills
- Excellent communication skills - verbal and written
- Ability to coordinate and work on multiple projects at once
- Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word
- Knowledge of Dynamics and V3locity preferred
