Director – Utilities & Midstream, US Corporates – New York

Join Fitch Ratings as a Director covering the Utilities and Midstream sector, based in New York, Chicago, or Toronto. You will lead coverage analysis, model building, and stakeholder communication in a team‑oriented, high productivity environment.

We’ll Count On You To
  • Perform analysis of key quantitative and qualitative factors influencing credit quality of companies in the Utilities and Midstream sectors.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive financial models.
  • Conduct meetings with Retail & Consumer industry management teams.
  • Present analysis of companies to internal credit rating committees.
  • Communicate rating rationale to external audiences (institutional investors, sell‑side analysts and media) in meetings, conference calls, press releases and written research reports.
  • Write timely and effective research on topical issues.
  • Participate in the evaluation of other credits within Corporates and related credit groups.
  • Represent Fitch in panel discussions and conferences arranged by industry associations and regulatory bodies.
  • Mentor junior members of the Utilities & Midstream sector.
  • The role may include managerial responsibilities.
What You Need To Have
  • Bachelor’s degree minimum; MBA or other advanced degree a plus.
  • CFA, CPA or CFA candidate preferred.
  • 5–10 years relevant experience, ideally with coverage or knowledge of the Utilities and Midstream sectors.
  • Capital markets and/or credit analysis experience a plus.
  • Expertise in Excel and Word.
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to shift fluidly between multiple projects as priorities change.
  • Ability to excel in a team‑oriented environment.
What Would Make You Stand Out
  • Knowledge of and interest in the Utilities and Midstream industries.
  • Professional background in capital markets and/or credit analysis with well‑developed financial statement analysis skills.
  • Desire to deepen exposure to and understanding of the debt capital markets.
  • Strong leadership pattern and ability to proactively interact with stakeholders both inside and outside the organization.

Salary

For New York and California roles, expected base pay ranges from $140,000 to $180,000, subject to individual factors such as education, training, experience and performance. Total compensation may include commission, discretionary bonuses, long‑term incentives and other benefits.
