Director, Private Equity

Director, Private Equity – Zurich Alternative Asset Management (ZAAM) – New York, NY (Hybrid Remote, Full Time). This career‑track position reports to the Managing Director and Head of Private Equity.

Key responsibilities include:

• Transactional:
  • Lead origination, research, and analysis of fund investments, direct co‑investments, and secondary GP‑led or continuation vehicle (CV) opportunities across PE strategies.
  • Leverage own network to perform diligence, improve market intelligence, and originate deal flow.
  • Serve as internal subject matter expert on private equity within Zurich.
  • Drive negotiations with ZAAM Legal and exert influence to achieve positive outcomes for Zurich.
  • Prepare memoranda for the ZAAM Investment Committee and stakeholders.
  • Lead monitoring activities for assigned coverage and use technology/tools to gather PE data.
  • Act as Zurich’s designated representative for Limited Partner Advisory Committees.
• Research:
  • Develop and employ thesis‑driven approach to identify potential investment opportunities.
  • Drive ZAAM PE’s primary and secondary research efforts.
  • Lead assigned portfolio segments and market segments internally.
• One Zurich:
  • Mentor ZAAM PE colleagues for future success.
  • Lead or join cross‑departmental projects supporting broader Zurich initiatives.
  • Represent ZAAM PE in meetings with senior management, stakeholders, and external parties.
  • Lead assigned PE projects, including mandate set‑ups and documentation for senior Zurich executives.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Law, Accounting, or a professional certification (CFA/CPA) if undergraduate degree is not in those fields.
• Eight or more years of experience in Corporate Finance, Transaction Finance, Investment Management or Consulting, including at least four years in Private Equity investing into limited partnerships and/or operating companies.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Strong aptitude in data visualization and adoption of technology, including Generative AI.
• Extensive experience in institutional asset management (e.g., insurance, pensions, endowments, sovereign wealth funds, OCIOs, fund‑of‑funds, family offices), private equity, venture capital, strategy consulting, investment banking, corporate finance, or alternative assets.
• Excellent knowledge of private equity and venture capital.
• Exceptional communication skills, both speaking and writing.
• Executive presence, strong leadership, project management experience, ambition, and drive toward continuous improvement.
• Graduate degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Law, or completed CFA or CAIA.

Compensation: $ – $ (salary) with a short‑term incentive bonus eligibility of 25%.
