Profound is on a mission to help companies understand and control their AI presence. We’re creating a new category at the intersection of AI, search, and brand visibility — helping brands measure and influence how they show up across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and beyond.

As our first in-house Controller
, you will own all core accounting, reporting, and compliance functions while building the accounting foundation that scales with Profound’s growth. You’ll manage our accounting operations end to end, partner closely with leadership on financial reporting and liquidity management, and safeguard our financial systems and controls.

• Own accounting, audit, and tax functions across the company.

• Work closely with our third-party accounting firm
  , reviewing deliverables, managing day-to-day accounting tasks, and ensuring timely monthly closes.

• Manage AP and AR processes, including vendor payments, invoicing, collections, and expense tracking.

• Review internal financial statements and ensure GAAP compliance

• Implement and document accounting policies, processes, and internal controls
  .

• Lay the foundation work of audit readiness and help evaluate external auditors and tax advisors.

• Maintain and optimize financial systems (Quick Books, Ramp) and help plan for an ERP transition if necessary.

• Partner with leadership on cash forecasting, runway management, and financial reporting

• 10+ years of experience in the field of accounting
  , including 5+ years of experience working at a high-growth startup
  .

• Big 4 background (audit or accounting) strongly preferred.

• Deep understanding of GAAP accounting, audit, and tax compliance
  .

• Strong hands-on experience with AP/AR, monthly close, financial reporting
  , and systems management.

• Highly detail-oriented, process-driven, and able to operate independently in a fast-paced environment.

• Experience with building and leading an accounting team over time.

• CPA preferred

This is an on-site role based in our Union Square office
, designed for builders who thrive on speed, iteration, and meaningful impact.

For this role, the expected base salary range is $180,000 – $240,000
. Profound’s total compensation package is designed to be competitive and includes base salary, equity, and a full range of benefits and perks.
