The successful candidate should be dynamic, energetic, and creative. This individual will join a team of colleagues, working in close collaboration with the 5th-grade team, specialist teachers, and administration, as well as with the entire Lower School (Threes-Grade
5) division.
Responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing a 5th-grade curriculum that incorporates academic and socioemotional goals.
- Planning lessons and tailoring instruction to meet students' individual needs.
- Collaborating closely with teachers and specialists regarding curriculum and student progress.
- Coordinating with the faculty, families, and administrators to best support student growth.
- Communicating about student progress through family conferences, home reports, and regular emails.
- Bachelor's degree required;
Master's degree preferred, as well as a minimum of three years of experience as a Head or Associate Teacher. - Knowledge of language arts skills and social studies content at the 5th-grade level.
- Experience using varied methods of assessment and providing effective written feedback.
- Comfort with differentiating instruction to accommodate a range of learning styles.
- Enthusiasm for collaborating with colleagues on curriculum development.
- Proficiency in using technology to enhance classroom learning.
- Proven ability to form strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- A growth mindset and lifelong dedication to learning.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Flexibility, creativity, patience, and a sense of humor.
