Salary Range: $54,000 - $101,650 USD
Status: Full-time
Rudolf Steiner School seeks a 1st Grade Class Teacher. Strong candidates will be a trained Waldorf Class Teacher with Lower School teaching experience. As members of the Lower School faculty, teachers have the opportunity to work collaboratively with one another on a daily basis and in regular departmental, area, and all-school meetings.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deliver developmentally appropriate lessons rooted in the oral tradition.
- Create rhythmic, engaging instruction that integrates academic, artistic, and social-emotional learning.
- Differentiate instruction to support individual student needs using inclusive and culturally responsive practices.
- Maintain a respectful, organized classroom environment aligned with Waldorf principles.
- Collaborate with subject teachers and the Learning Support Team.
- Assess student progress and complete reports, block plans, and documentation.
- Communicate regularly with parents and lead class meetings and conferences.
- Prepare classroom materials, maintain displays, and support school events and festivals.
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school-wide initiatives.
- Commit to ongoing study of Waldorf pedagogy and inclusive education.
- Uphold professionalism, collaboration, and confidentiality at all times.
- Bachelor's degree required;
Master's degree preferred. - Waldorf Teacher Certification from an AWSNA-recognized institute or equivalent experience required (or a clear path to certification).
- 3-5 years of Waldorf teaching experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of and enthusiasm for Waldorf education.
- Commitment to professional growth and collaborative work.
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and support for diverse learners.
- Must meet all background checks, fingerprinting, and NYC health and safety compliance standards.
