Assistant Professor, Social Work
Join Touro University Graduate School of Social Work as a full‑time (10‑month appointment) Assistant Professor in Social Work. Candidates should have experience delivering distance education in both asynchronous and synchronous formats, and ideally have worked in the Observant Jewish communities. Responsibilities include teaching, student advising, supporting adjunct faculty, and engaging students online and offline.
OverviewThe Touro University Graduate School of Social Work seeks candidates who can teach, advise, support scholarship, and participate in MSW program activities such as orientation, community days, committee meetings, and curriculum development. Faculty carry a 21‑credit workload per academic year and are expected to teach, advise students, and engage in scholarship. The school’s mission is to educate graduates for clinical social work practice in an urban, multicultural environment, grounded in Jewish values and social work ethics.
Responsibilities- Teaching asynchronous, synchronous, and in‑person courses as assigned
- Service to the Department, University, and Community: research/scholarship, including publication, conference participation, and funded research
- Academic advising for students in distance education
- Participation in standing and ad‑hoc committees; program events such as orientation and graduation
- Building, strengthening, and supporting community relations
- High engagement and responsiveness during stipulated work hours
Applicants must have a Master of Social Work degree and a doctorate in a related field; a Ph.D. in Social Work or a DSW is preferred.
Qualifications- Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience
- Some higher‑education administrative experience preferred
- Instructional course design experience preferred
- Student advising experience preferred, but not required
- Experience with clinical simulation technology and artificial intelligence is a plus
- Create a respectful classroom environment and attend to cultural sensitivities, particularly with observant Jewish students
- Experience with Canvas and electronic learning management systems
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, and Zoom
- Social work licensure required

Maximum: USD $90,000.00 per year
Minimum: USD $72,000.00 per year
