UPK Teacher: $29.67
Certified Teacher B-6: $25.91 per hour
4 Year Degree: $23.87 per hour
2 Year Degree: $20.58 per hour
EHS Teacher with CDA: $20.47 per hour
The Teacher will work collaboratively with the classroom team, this includes parent(s)/guardian(s), families, volunteers, and other classroom staff to ensure the successful operation of classroom to implement the curriculum to achieve outcomes for children.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Provide direct and competent supervision to ensure the safety and security of children at all times in accordance with Head Start, NY State Office of Children and Families regulations and supports MVCAA, Inc Supervision of Children policy in the classroom, during outdoor experiences and field trips.
- Ensures that the classroom and outdoor area is in compliance with NYS OCFS Regulations and Performance Standards.
- Establish positive, healthy, and professional relationships with families.
- Attends to the physical needs of the children (diapering, toileting, feeding, resting, rocking and holding children).
- Implements a child-centered, developmentally appropriate curriculum and learning environment that encourages positive social interaction, active engagement in learning, and self-motivation to promote development in all domains for children and supports children in progression of School Readiness Goals and objectives.
- Provide children with a consistent classroom routine in accordance with the Creative Curriculum.
- Responsible to have effective interactions with children in accordance with the CLASS observation tool (Head Start classrooms only.)
- Responsible for development and implementation and display of lesson plans in cooperation with parents/guardians/families.
- Responsible for completion of developmental and behavioral screenings on all children within 45 days of child’s entrance into program, utilizing results for individualized planning and referrals as needed.
- Responsible for working in partnership with parents/guardians/families to develop an individual plan for each child including goal setting based on identified needs and activities to meet established child outcomes.
- Integrate Individual Education Plans (IEP’s) for children with documented disabilities.
- Collects and records children’s progress to complete accurate assessments at 3 or 4 points in the year and individualize curriculum.
- Analyze classroom level child outcome data report and implement a plan to promote greater outcomes for children in partnership with parent(s)/guardian(s)/families.
- Addresses challenging behaviors by observing to determine the possible causes of the behavior, implementing preventive developmentally appropriate measures, teaching the child new social and communication skills and partnering with families to support the child at home.
- Participates in meals with the children as a curriculum activity, to model good nutrition and developmentally appropriate social skills for children age birth to 5.
- Identify and encourage families wanting to volunteer in the classroom, work as substitutes or in other volunteer activites to the Human Resource office.
- Secures substitute for all absences.
- Supervise, trains, delegate’s tasks and evaluates Assistant Teachers, Classroom Aides, volunteers, substitutes and interns within the classroom
- Completes custodial duties not provided by the lease agreement.
- Understands, generates and documents in-kind and other allowable costs toward the non-federal share requirement.
- Demonstrates commitment to mission, values and policies in the performance of daily duties.
- Understands and supports MVCAA, Inc. Supervision of Children policy.
- Performs other duties as assigned to ensure the successful execution of the program.
- HS Teacher – Must possess an Associate, Bachelor or Advanced degree in Child Development, or Early Childhood Education
- EHS Teacher – Minimum of a current Infant/Toddler Child Development Associate (CDA) credential AND Two years of experience caring for children, one on which must be related to caring for infants or toddlers: or preferably Two (2) year degree in Early Childhood Education plus one (1) year specific training…
