FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

Lehman College, of The City University of New York, ranks among the top five institutions in the nation for fostering social mobility. A four‑year Latinx‑serving institution in the Bronx, Lehman offers bachelor’s, master’s, and advanced degrees and certificate programs in the Liberal Arts, sciences, and professions. The College’s community‑driven mission and notable academic programs attract a diverse, international enrollment of over 15,000 students who take courses on its 37‑acre, tree‑lined campus and online degree programs.

Many thousands more community members benefit yearly from its active cultural, educational, health, and economic outreach programs and services. Opportunities are available for faculty development and travel awards. Lehman College and CUNY internal funding is available through competitive grants for scholarship and professional development support.

The Department of Counseling, Leadership, Literacy, and Special Education houses a variety of outstanding and nationally accredited graduate degree programs, with each culminating in a Doctoral degree, or master’s degree, or an advanced certificate, and most leading to New York State Certification. Our faculty are committed to excellence in scholarship and teaching and are recognized for their work with Bronx and urban schools, districts, nonprofits, and other community organizations, and strive to provide transformational learning experiences for our graduate students.

They are experienced in meeting the needs of adult learners and are dedicated to mentoring, motivating, and supporting our graduate students through consistent advisement, engaging instruction, continuous program improvement, and career placement.

The Department of Counseling, Leadership, Literacy, and Special Education (CLLSE) invites applicants for a Doctoral Lecturer position in Counselor

Education:

School Counseling to teach in our CACREP‑Accredited, hybrid M.S. Ed. program. Candidates must demonstrate excellence in teaching, service, advocacy, and leadership to engage and inspire our economically, culturally, and linguistically diverse Bronx and surrounding community candidates, colleagues, and K‑20 schools. Candidates must also have outstanding collaboration skills to engage with program faculty colleagues, alumni, site supervisors, K‑20 school and community partners, our advisory council, and candidates in promoting and supporting exemplary program assessment and development. Strong interpersonal skills with students, as well as excellent administrative and organizational abilities, are essential. The successful candidate will report directly to the Chairperson of CLLSE and is expected to teach primarily graduate courses, with undergraduate courses assigned as needed by the Department Chairperson.
