Role Overview

We are seeking a highly creative and experienced Senior Designer with expertise in cut & sew knits and soft wovens to join the Splendid design team. This role will spearhead the design process from concept through final line presentation, ensuring brand‑right product that balances creativity, innovation, and commercial viability. The Senior Designer will report and partner closely with the Senior Design Director.

They will partner with Sales, Merchandising and Technical Design to deliver compelling seasonal assortments, while mentoring and managing junior design team members.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and development of Women’s knits and soft wovens, under the direction of the Senior Design Director.
  • Spearhead the seasonal concept process, bringing fresh, innovative ideas to the assortment that align with brand DNA and consumer expectations.
  • Translate line plan needs from Sales and Merchandising into compelling designs that drive the business.
  • Analyze fashion trends, consumer insights, and competitive landscape to inform seasonal design direction.
  • Oversee fabric research and development, working with overseas mills and vendors to source and innovate in knits and soft wovens.
  • Responsible for creating initial tech packs for development through production.
  • Ensure consistency and brand integrity across product categories, from initial sketch through final garment.
  • Partner with marketing on product packaging, photo shoots, catalogs, displays, and other brand imagery.
  • Collaborate with Technical Design to ensure product fit, construction, and quality meet brand standards.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to junior team members, fostering a collaborative and growth‑oriented environment.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or related field.
  • Minimum 8 years of women’s design experience, with a strong emphasis on cut & sew knits and additional experience in soft wovens.
  • Proven experience managing, mentoring, or developing junior designers.
  • Strong understanding of garment construction, fabric development, and trend analysis.
  • Excellent design and sketching skills (hand and digital), with proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
  • Ability to balance creativity with commercial awareness, bringing forward innovative yet brand‑right product ideas.
  • Strong team player with a collaborative approach, able to partner effectively across cross‑functional teams and with external vendors.
  • Must have worked in a contemporary women’s brand or similar environment.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and mentoring junior team members in a fast‑paced environment.

This is a hybrid role, with 4 days in our NYC office.

PAY RATE: $110,000/yr-$130,000/yr. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to experience, specialized skills, and internal alignment.
