About this opportunity...
Ross Stores is looking for a Sourcing Manager (Ross Home) to bring strategic sourcing, product development expertise, and flawless execution to our growing Home division. In this role, you'll partner closely with our Merchant teams and global vendor network to deliver high quality, on brand product that meets our standards for design, value, and speed to market.
Reporting to the Senior Director of Sourcing, you'll serve as the key connector across overseas offices, vendors, agents, and internal partners-ensuring products move smoothly through every stage of the lifecycle, from concept to shipment.
This position is Hybrid, 3 days per week in our NYC office.
The base salary range for this role is $93,000 to $105,000. The base salary range is dependent on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, qualifications, relevant education, certifications, seniority, and location. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package for employees. Other rewards vary by position and location.
What you will do and what you will learn...
- Lead sourcing and product development for multiple hard home categories-from initial design and costing through production and delivery.
- Anticipate challenges, propose solutions, and proactively manage risks throughout the development cycle.
- Evaluate samples with a strong product and sourcing point of view; assess quality, materials, and supplier capabilities.
- Own product costing and cost engineering to ensure strong value and margin.
- Manage and track milestone calendars; escalate issues and keep cross functional teams informed.
- Partner with overseas vendors and agents to ensure on time shipments; troubleshoot issues as needed.
- Stay current on market trends through competitive shopping and make assortment recommendations.
- Identify and vet new suppliers, factories, and sourcing regions.
- Support onboarding of new vendors/factories in partnership with Sr. Director/VP.
- Provide merchants with accurate data for PO creation; validate all details before release to vendors.
- Continuously improve workflows, processes, and tools to strengthen team effectiveness.
- Build strong, collaborative relationships across internal teams and external partners.
- Bachelor's degree or commensurate required
- 5 years in Product Development/Sourcing/Merchandising within a large retail chain (retail training program experience is a plus)
- Strong understanding of end to end product development and production processes for hard home goods, including materials and manufacturing methods
- Proven negotiation, influencing, and retail math skills
- Experience partnering with international vendors; fluency in Bengali, Hindi, and/or Mandarin is a plus
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally
