Description We are looking for an experienced Staff Accountant to join our team in New York, New York. This is a long-term contract position within a non-profit organization, offering an opportunity to contribute to essential financial operations while supporting meaningful programs. The role requires expertise in accounting processes, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities:

- Prepare and post accounting entries derived from the billing system into the general ledger.

- Reconcile accounts receivable subledger to ensure accuracy and completeness.

- Record cash receipts and manage payment processing in compliance with organizational policies.

- Perform periodic reviews of financial data to identify discrepancies and ensure consistency.

- Collaborate with team members to maintain accurate financial records and support audits.

- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely reporting.

- Generate financial reports and provide insights for decision-making purposes.

- Support the implementation of best practices to enhance the efficiency of accounting operations.

- Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and organizational policies. Requirements - Proven experience in accounting or a similar role, preferably within a non-profit organization.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.

- Strong numerical data entry skills with a high level of accuracy.

- Familiarity with accounts receivable processes and reconciliations.

- Knowledge of general ledger systems and accounting software.

- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.

- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

- Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
