Sr. Accountant

Description We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team in New York, New York. This is a long-term contract position with the potential for permanent employment. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in managing accounting operations while collaborating closely with the Controller. Responsibilities:

- Manage the month-end closing process, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.

- Prepare and reconcile balance sheets to maintain the integrity of financial records.

- Perform bank reconciliations to verify account accuracy and resolve discrepancies.

- Create and post journal entries to support the general ledger.

- Oversee accounts payable transactions and ensure compliance with organizational policies.

- Assist in audit preparation by gathering necessary documentation and supporting materials.

- Handle ad-hoc financial projects as assigned to meet organizational needs.

- Utilize Sage Intacct and other accounting systems to streamline processes.

- Apply advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.

- Collaborate with team members to optimize workflows and achieve financial objectives. Requirements - Proven experience in nonprofit accounting and familiarity with relevant practices.

- Expertise in managing month-end close and general ledger accounting.

- Proficiency in preparing journal entries and reconciling accounts.

- Strong ability to perform bank reconciliations accurately.

- Knowledge of audit preparation processes and requirements.

- Hands-on experience with Sage Intacct and

- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel for financial analysis and reporting.

- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively.
