Staff Accountant

Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in New York, New York. This role requires someone with strong expertise in accounting processes, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic environment, ensuring accurate financial management and timely execution of critical accounting tasks.

Responsibilities:

- Oversee weekly check runs and ensure payments are processed accurately and on time.

- Review and correct errors in Quick Books to maintain precise financial records.

- Approve and verify payables to ensure proper entry into Quick Books.

- Code, pay, and reconcile company credit card transactions in Quick Books.

- Process payroll entries, including journal entries and timesheets, ensuring accurate job assignments.

- Generate and distribute client invoices while collaborating with project managers for timely follow-ups.

- Monitor and implement procedures to minimize accounts receivable days and ensure deposits are credited appropriately.

- Handle treasury functions, including managing availability and overseeing timely deposit payments.

- Ensure compliance with quarterly tax payments, local and state fees, and coordinate with auditors as needed.

Requirements - Proven experience in corporate tax, journal entries, and general ledger management.

- Strong knowledge of accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.

- Proficiency in Quick Books and familiarity with related accounting systems.

- Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

- Effective communication skills to work collaboratively with project managers and other teams.

- Demonstrated ability to reconcile accounts and ensure accurate financial reporting.

- Knowledge of regulatory compliance, including local and state tax requirements.

- Prior experience coordinating with auditors and managing quarterly tax payments.
