Accounting Manager

Description We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to join our team on a long-term contract basis in New York, New York. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented individual with expertise in project accounting, revenue recognition, and a strong understanding of percentage of completion accounting methods. You will be overseeing financial activities for numerous real estate projects while collaborating with both onshore and offshore teams to ensure accurate and timely reporting.

Responsibilities:

- Oversee the financial management of approximately 100-120 ongoing real estate projects, ensuring accuracy in reporting and compliance.

- Manage revenue recognition processes, particularly for projects using percentage of completion accounting methods.

- Lead month-end close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger reviews.

- Collaborate with offshore accounting teams to ensure smooth communication and workflow management.

- Conduct detailed account analysis and prepare for audits, addressing inquiries from auditors and leadership.

- Supervise ad-hoc financial projects and provide strategic insights to support decision-making.

- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and company policies in all accounting practices.

- Utilize Oracle systems to maintain financial records and streamline processes.

- Provide guidance and leadership to support the offshore accounting team.

- Communicate effectively with senior leadership regarding revenue-related matters and financial updates. Requirements - Minimum of 7 years of experience in project accounting, preferably in real estate or construction industries.

- Strong knowledge of revenue recognition principles, including percentage of completion accounting.

- Proficiency in month-end close activities, including journal entries and reconciliations.

- Experience working with Oracle systems and managing offshore accounting teams.

- Solid understanding of general ledger and account analysis processes.

- Familiarity with financial audits and preparing audit documentation.

- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with a high level of accuracy.

- Excellent communication skills, particularly when addressing leadership and cross-functional teams.
