Overview
New Ulm Public Utilities Commission is accepting applications for the position of Water/Steam Operator in the Water/Steam Department. This position performs operational, maintenance, and construction work on the City’s water and steam distribution systems, including water treatment plants, wells, booster stations, meters, hydrants, valves, and reservoirs. Operators maintain accurate records, perform service and meter installations, and operate the SCADA system. The ideal candidate will have mechanical aptitude, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently.
Knowledge of Minnesota Department of Health standards, Safe Drinking Water Act regulations, and experience with water/steam systems are preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Access or similar software is helpful. Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, a Minnesota Water Operator “D” Certificate or the ability to obtain one within one year, and a valid Minnesota Class “D” Driver’s License with the ability to obtain a Class “A” CDL within six months.
The pay range is $30.17 – $39.74 per hour, depending on qualifications.
