Overview
A busy fast-paced mixed animal 7 doctor practice is looking to add at least another veterinarian, and possibly more veterinarians. We have a strong bovine, equine, canine, and feline practice with numerous areas that could be expanded upon within this and outside of this for the right candidate.
In addition to the responsibilities outlined below, the Associate Veterinarian is an invaluable member of the hospital team who works directly with supporting medical staff. This individual advance the quality of medicine in the practice and provides exceptional client service to our clients and patients, both in the clinic and out on the farm.
ResponsibilitiesThese include the following duties; however, other duties may be necessarily performed.
- Examine and treat animals on a first-come, first-serve basis as well as by appointment
- Cultivate positive relationships with customers and their animals through regular communication and excellent record-keeping
- Prioritize traumatic injuries and serious illnesses to ensure that all animals receive time sensitive care
- Understand and observe all safety issues in the performance of duties
- Educate clients on the importance of vaccinations, heart worm treatments, flea and tick treatments and other aspects of preventive care
- Perform and/or assist with surgeries
- Train new veterinary assistants and other members of the support staff
- Treat, and prevent an array of animal diseases and illnesses
- Conduct tests and observations to provide a proper diagnosis
- Know and thoroughly understand the medications used, their protocol, side effects and how to administer them
- Prescribe necessary medications
- Observe all safety protocol in the proper storage of medications
- Administer vaccines to prevent common diseases
- Perform operations and provide therapy or other treatments to heal animal injury
- Perform spay and neuter surgeries
- Communicate with animal owners to answer questions and educate them on situations and treatment plans
- Go into the field to inspect and treat livestock and their living conditions when required
- Maintain current educational changes by continual learning
- Collaborate with veterinary assistants and other members of the support staff
- Examine animals to assess their health and diagnose problems
- Treat and dress wounds
- Perform surgery on animals
- Euthanize animals
- Test for and vaccinate against diseases
- Operate medical equipment, such as x-ray and ultrasound machines
- Advise animal owners about general care, medical conditions, and treatment
