PositionSummary
A Respiratory Therapist is a NBRC credentialed professional who provides respiratory care to patients in alternate sites in accordance with Adapt Health’s policies and procedures. Respiratory care will be preventative, rehabilitative, and palliative in nature. The Respiratory Therapist will utilize all resources available within the agency and community to accomplish care objectives.
Essential Functions andJob Responsibilities
- Utilizes various sources of information to attain greater competence about the position, including attending educational events (including optional in-services) and asking questions.
- Utilizes acquired knowledge to increase competencies.
- Demonstrates initiative in disseminating knowledge to others.
- Contributes to other employees’ orientations whenever possible.
- Completes documentation and charting procedures in compliance with ACHC and company policy and procedures.
- Maintains complete and accurate patient files by updating documents per policy.
- Reviews Plans of Treatments and Care Plans to ensure accuracy and up-to-date information.
- Documents procedures including patient tolerance, side effects, and other pertinent information.
- Assists with authorization for CPAP/BiPAP referrals for patients.
- Displays knowledge of respiratory equipment and applies it in the clinical setting; troubleshoots equipment in the field.
- Maintains inventory control of CPAP/BiPAP supplies for the sleep center.
- Applies assessment skills and clinical knowledge during set-ups, follow-ups, and in-services.
- Participates in discharge planning of highly technical cases and prepares patients and caregivers for home transition.
- Performs clinical assessments and reports results to referring physicians.
- Follows up with physicians and referrals and documents accurately and timely.
- Adheres to PPE, infection control, and hazardous materials handling procedures.
- Collaborates with Community Education staff to promote Adapt Health through new program development and educational activities.
- Assumes on-call responsibilities during non-business hours as required.
- Supports team with feedback, accompanying referral visits, and coordination with operations.
- Contributes to branch growth through patient recommendations where applicable.
- Maintains patient confidentiality and follows HIPAA guidelines.
- Completes required compliance training and educational programs.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities
- Competent in PAP, Ventilator, Airway Clearance, and Oxygen therapy administration and management.
- Able to perform clinical assessments and make recommendations to physicians.
- Equipment troubleshooting and maintenance skills.
- Problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize and manage competing priorities and tasks.
- Computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Associate degree from an AMA-approved respiratory program.
- Valid and unrestricted RT clinical license in all states serviced by the branch or an Associate degree in Nursing, with a valid and unrestricted LPN or RN clinical license.
- CPR certification.
- One (1) year of clinical experience as a Health Care RT or HME RT or clinical nursing with Vent experience.
- Valid and unrestricted driver’s license.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds, stand, bend, stoop, and sit at a computer for extended periods.
