Position: Principal - Middle / High School

The School District of Glenwood City is seeking an educational leader who can work as part of a motivated and professional administrative team made up of the superintendent, elementary principal, and director of students services, would be a supportive leader to an excellent teaching and support staff, has strong student relationship skills, and who can help coordinate curriculum and school improvement efforts centered on high expectations and accountability.

Glenwood City is located approximately 50 miles from both the Twin Cities Metropolitan Area and Eau Claire and on the eastern edge of St. Croix County in western Wisconsin. It is centrally located between I-94 and State Highway 64. Glenwood City has an emphasis offering enhanced educational opportunities along with high expectations and accountability through a supportive community in which to work. The Glenwood City Middle School and High School Principal oversees grades 6 – 12. Students are taught by licensed specialists in the areas of general education, art, music, physical education, CTE, and two school counselors. Special education, Title one, and an interventionist provide additional supporting services.

PERFORMANCE

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Supervises all school operations and its instructional program for grades 6-12 (315+ students).
  • Oversight and works directly with the Superintendent and Athletic Director with all co-curricular and District athletics.
  • Oversight and works directly with the Superintendent and eCampus Coordinator for online programming.
  • Leadership skill set necessary to ensure that a developmentally appropriate instructional program is provided to all students.
  • Plans, organizes, and directs implementation of all school-sponsored activities.
  • Establishes and maintains favorable relationships with local community groups and individuals to foster understanding and solicit support for overall school objectives and programs, to interpret Board policies and administrative procedures, and to discuss and resolve individual student problems.
  • Supervises and evaluates all certified/licensed and support staff assigned to the school.
  • Assists in the recruiting, screening, hiring, assigning and evaluating of the school’s staff, both professional and supporting.
  • Maintains an effective learning environment.
  • Assumes responsibility for student achievement and school improvement.
  • Creates, contributes, and implements the School Improvement Plan (SIP).
  • Consistently administers District policy, student handbook, and communicates with students and parents.
  • Prepares reports, records, lists, budgets, and all other paperwork required.
  • Participates in administrative team meetings and other such meetings as required or appropriate for successful administration of the school.
  • Prepares and submits the school’s budget and monitors expenditures to ensure that the budget is balanced.
  • Keeps the superintendent informed of the school’s activities and all issues that arise.
  • Abides by all applicable rules, regulations, policies, and statutes for the position.
  • Performs other administrative duties as required by the superintendent.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Valid Wisconsin Administrator’s Licensure.
  • Master’s degree in educational leadership, curriculum or related area.
  • Five (5) years of successful teaching experience is preferred. Middle or high school experience is desirable.
  • Three (3) years of successful administrative experience preferred.
  • As a data-focused instructional leadership, candidates should possess experience with the WI-DPI Educator Effectiveness System, critical thinking processes, enhanced student engagement, and an understanding of the RtI process.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the hiring team may find appropriate and acceptable.
  • Must pass a background check and possess all legally required certifications.
