Accounting Manager, Financial Reporting
Advanced Financial FCU is seeking an Accounting Manager to join our finance team working directly with senior management to drive our financial success and proactively support our goals for exceptional member service and financial well‑being.
As our Accounting Manager, you’ll play a key leadership role in overseeing all day‑to‑day accounting operations, ensuring the integrity of financial data, and driving excellence in compliance, reporting, and internal controls. In this role, you will oversee the general ledger and reconciliation processes, ensure compliance with GAAP, NCUA, and NACHA standards, and collaborate with leadership to support strategic financial decisions. In addition you will interface with the lending, payments and member service departments to understand and support their functions and the interactions with the accounting department.
Due to the size of our accounting team, this is a hands‑on role that will provide backup support to the Senior Accountant and the CFO to assist with all aspects of the accounting and finance functions as needed.
- Facilitate the preparation, review, and accuracy of month end and annual reporting in accordance with GAAP.
- Oversee all general accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll processing, fixed assets and general ledger reconciliations.
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Assist in preparation of annual budget and periodic forecasting.
- Assist with the preparation and review of the NCUA 5300 Call Reports and other regulatory filings.
- Ensure timely and accurate reconciliations for general ledger and subsidiary records, including cash, loan, and investments accounts.
- Maintain internal controls and compliance with GAAP, NCUA, and NACHA standards.
- Support audits, regulatory exams, and special projects, including preparation of work papers and responses to auditor inquiries.
- Assist with liquidity management, investment tracking, and cash flow analysis.
- Collaborate with leadership to recommend new or innovative ideas to improve systems and processes.
- Partner with the CFO and other leadership on projects.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role. Experience in a credit union or financial institution is highly desirable.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CMA certification a plus.

Skills:
Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting. Knowledge and proficiency in Fiserv core accounting systems a plus. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required, especially Excel. Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills. Strong leadership and team management abilities. Demonstrates attention to detail and thoroughness in completing work tasks. Intermediate mathematical skills are required (calculations and concepts that involve decimals, percentages, fractions, etc.). - Physical Requirements: Involves sitting most of the time. Walking and standing are required occasionally. Repetitive finger movements to perform typing or otherwise working with paper files and documents. Requires close visual acuity to prepare and analyze date and figures; view a computer terminal; read; and assess work quality.
