Job DescriptionBME Fire Trucks is looking for experienced Mechanical Technicians. The chassis is the foundation of the fire apparatus and powers the truck, water pump and controls the lights and sirens. As a Mechanical Technician you may be responsible for:
- Installing bumpers and rear steps
- Attaching the water pump
- Performing maintenance and inspections on chassis components
- Background in automotive or diesel mechanics
- High school diploma or completion of an adult mechanic’s course
- Mechanic apprenticeship or equivalent experience
- Ability to lift up to 100 pounds, stand, bend, stoop, squat, kneel and climb stairs or ladders
- Excellent diagnostic skills and hands‑on experience with hand and power tools, plasma torch, DOT airline fittings, PTO gear boxes and drive lines
- Pass a drug test and a criminal background check
- Dependability, motivation and self‑drive
