The Substation Welder maintains and performs repairs, modifications, replacements, and installations of a wide variety of low and high voltage electrical and electronic equipment and systems for both existing facilities, new acquisitions, and those under renovation. This role supports the construction of new substationas as well as modifications, and upgrades of existing substationas for Electrical Utility Companies throughout Florida. This is a traveling role that requires working in different job sites all over the state of Florida.
Per diem is provided when applicable.
- Develop welding plan by analyzing print specs and determining appropriate welding techniques.
- Maintain safe work environment by following procedures and complying with safety standards. Construct components by using equipment to cut, clean, and weld after setting‑up and measuring assemblies and selecting appropriate method.
- Verify welding results by inspecting and testing welds.
- Keep equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, and performing preventive maintenance.
- Other duties as assigned by Management.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must have TIG welding experience.
- OSHA 10
- 6G certified
This job operates in a field environment. The role routinely requires extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, standing, and twisting. Working in inclement weather conditions: extreme heat, extreme cold, rain, ice, snow, and wind. Must be able to bend, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds. Vision clarity at 20 feet or more or 20 inches or less.
Precise hand‑eye coordination. Ability to identify and distinguish colors.
