Location: Beenham

Recruitment Solutions are seeking a skilled HGV Technician to join our Clients dynamic team based in Beenham, near Reading, Berkshire RG7. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in mechanical and electrical systems, with the ability to diagnose and repair heavy goods vehicles efficiently. This role requires a hands‑on approach, utilising your expertise in Service/Diagnostics/Repair to ensure our fleet remains in optimal condition.

About the role
  • Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on HGVs, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
  • Diagnose faults using schematics and technical manuals to identify issues accurately.
  • Utilise hand tools and power tools effectively for assembly and disassembly of vehicle components.
  • Carry out inspections and tests on vehicles to ensure proper functioning.
  • Assist with the repair of HGV Vehicles as part of the maintenance programme.
  • Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with clients regarding repairs and services performed.
  • Engage in heavy lifting as necessary during the repair process
About you Requirements
  • Proven mechanical knowledge with experience in HGV maintenance and repair.
  • City & Guilds Parts 1, 2 & 3, NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in HGV maintenance preferred, though applicants with 10+ years of hands‑on HGV experience are also welcome.
  • Hold a current HGV licence (Class 2 minimum) and digital tachograph card, with a good understanding of tachograph system (desirable).
  • Has completed 35 hours’ driver CPC and hold a valid driver CPC card (desirable).
  • Strong electrical experience, including troubleshooting electrical systems within vehicles.
  • Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and equipment used in vehicle maintenance.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics for effective diagnosis of vehicle issues.
  • Experience in welding and fabrication is highly desirable.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Capability to perform heavy lifting as part of daily duties.
  • A commitment to delivering high‑quality workmanship and customer satisfaction.
