Summary
Provides nursing leadership & program oversight within a healthcare facility. Directs operations, supervises multidisciplinary nursing staff, & ensures compliance with regulations, accreditation standards, & policies. Leads strategic planning, quality improvement initiatives, workforce development, & resource management to promote safe, high-quality, patient-centered care & positive population health outcomes.
Responsibilities- Provides senior-level supervision and direction to nursing and clinical staff.
- Plans, implements, and evaluates clinical programs and services.
- Oversees daily operations to ensure safe, high-quality, patient-centered care.
- Ensures compliance with federal regulations, accreditation standards, and HHS policies.
- Develops and monitors budgets, staffing plans, and resource allocation.
- Leads quality improvement, patient safety, and performance management initiatives.
- Conducts staff recruitment, performance evaluations, coaching, and disciplinary actions.
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams and external partners.
- Develops policies, procedures, and standards of nursing practice.
- Analyzes data and prepares reports to support leadership decision-making.

The selected individual is required to obtain and maintain medical staff clinical privileges, including any licensure requirements; if privileges are not obtained or maintained during employment, the employee will be subject to adverse actions, up to and including removal from Federal service. A one-year supervisory/managerial probationary period may be required upon selection/placement. Confidential Financial Disclosure Form may be required. You may be subject to on-call hours or standby duty;

This position requires the successful completion of a federal background investigation as a condition of employment. Basic RequirementsEducation:
A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
Degree from Foreign Nursing School:
Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools.
Applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination. They must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a U.S. territory.
ExperienceThe work experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. At the GS-9 and above grade level, many positions may require experience in a specialty area of nursing.
Minimum QualificationsYour resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: assessment plan, implementation, direct and evaluation of the care of patients in a hospital facility setting; implement accreditation requirements; supervise subordinate staff;
