Custodian

Position Summary

Supports Harwood Museum facilities Department. Performs custodial maintenance duties, including dusting, mopping, finishing and buffing floors, vacuuming and shampooing carpets, cleaning and restocking restrooms. Custodial duties will be performed in museum galleries, administrative offices, educational spaces and apartment rentals. The schedule is Wednesday through Sunday with some flexibility.

• Ability to understand and follow safety procedures.
• Ability to safely use cleaning equipment and supplies.
• Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade.
• Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects.
• Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
• Ability to understand written and verbal communications.

• Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check.
• Compliance with NCAA rules and regulations if assigned to the Athletics Department.
• Submission of a post‑offer physical examination and medical history check.
• Compliance with influenza vaccination requirement for services or work in patient care or clinical areas.
• Regular, non‑temporary positions are unionized under the CWA Collective Bargaining Agreement.

• Less than high school; no previous experience required.
• Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year‑for‑year basis.

Able to follow precise cleaning instructions with specific requirements while cleaning in an art museum.
