Your Role as the Certified Medication Aide (CMA) Skilled Nursing

Americare Senior Living is seeking a dedicated Certified Medication Aide (CMA) to provide safe, accurate medication administration and compassionate resident care within our skilled nursing community.

In this role, you’ll play a critical part in supporting residents’ health, safety, and quality of life by administering medications, assisting with daily living activities, and collaborating closely with licensed nursing staff in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Summary

The Certified Medication Aide (CMA) is responsible for administering prescribed medications and supporting residents with activities of daily living in accordance with state regulations, physician orders, and Americare policies.

This role works as part of the interdisciplinary care team to promote resident safety, accurate documentation, and person-centered care in a skilled nursing setting.

This role may also be known as:
  • Certified Medication Aide (CMA), Medication Technician (CMT), Med Aide, Level One Medication Aide (L1MA), or Medication Assistant.
What You’ll Do
  • Administer prescribed medications under the supervision of licensed nursing staff.
  • Verify resident identity prior to medication administration and document dosage, time, and observations.
  • Monitor residents for medication responses and promptly report adverse reactions or concerns.
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, meals, and mobility.
  • Recognize and report changes in resident condition to charge staff.
  • Take and record vital signs, reporting abnormalities per facility policy.
  • Identify medication shortages and immediately report concerns to the supervisor.
  • Maintain accurate documentation related to resident care, intake, and output as ordered.
  • Support coworkers by providing assistance as needed.
  • Complete admission, discharge, and transfer documentation as required.
