Location:
Truth or Consequences, NM. The New Mexico State Veterans' Home provides long-term and skilled nursing services for honorably discharged veterans, their spouses, or parents of veterans killed in combat action. The facility has 131 beds. Services are provided 24/7 under a personalized plan of care developed by licensed health professionals.
Provide housekeeping services in a long-term care facility for our Veterans in order to maintain a clean, sanitary, and odor-free environment.
How does it get done?Under supervision, perform housekeeping tasks including sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, waxing, buffing, cleaning walls and mirrors, dusting, windows, bathrooms, collecting and disposing garbage, offices, furniture, vacuuming. Use proper disinfectants to control odor and germs. Attend trainings and meetings.
Who are the customers?The primary customers are veterans who served the nation; the job also supports widows and Gold Star Parents.
Ideal Candidate- Current valid New Mexico driver's license.
- Six months cleaning experience.
- High School Diploma.
Eighth grade education.
Employment Requirements- Employment is subject to criminal background check under NM Caregivers Act; conditional pending results.
- Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico driver's license.
- Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate or obtain one as a condition of continued employment.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Safe Food Handling Certificate or obtain within 1 week of hire.
- Successful completion of HIPAA training.
- Must sign and observe confidentiality agreement.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and comprehend English.
- Occasional travel for training and meetings; driving NM-owned vehicle may be required; working hours may include weekends, holidays, overtime, and callback hours. Essential functions will be provided at interview or by HR.
Work is indoors in a long-term facility; may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, or caustic chemicals. Walking throughout the facility; frequent interaction with residents, staff, and the public. May involve lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and other physical activities. Health hazards include exposure to contagious diseases. May involve routine exposure to illness, bodily fluids, and possible exposure to abuse. Some travel and on-call may be required.
