WSP is currently initiating a search for a full‑time Wastewater Treatment Plant Technician to join the team at our Questa, New Mexico plant.

Assist colleagues in the water treatment plant process with monitoring and adjustments. Perform laboratory water and process sampling QA/QC, which includes solids analysis and benchtop spectrophotometer analysis of water samples. Collect influent water source samples and monitor equipment at remote locations. Collect data and enter process and other operations information into operations logbooks up to six times per day. Operate filter press up to 12 times per day.

Monitor extended system critical to plant process (including chemical feeds, influent water sources, and lift stations). Operate and maintain heavy mobile construction type equipment for offloading deliveries, delivering filter cake to the on‑site repository, performing building maintenance, and performing snow removal. Assist maintenance personnel with repairs and maintenance, including grounds maintenance, as required. Respond to callouts for special projects as needed on an on‑call basis.

• High School Diploma or GED.
• At least one year of plant operations experience.
• Ability to obtain a 40‑hour OSHA HazWOPER certificate or have a current certificate.
• Must successfully complete and pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening.
• Ability to operate heavy mobile construction type equipment.
• Good understanding of Health and Safety practices and mechanical aptitude.
• Must be able to pass a HAZWOPER physical.
• Ability to complete shift work including nights, weekends, and holidays as necessary (shifts are 12 hours per day).
• Ability to operate and maintain all equipment in a safe and controlled manner in accordance with site health and safety plans and industry best practices and applicable programs such as OSHA.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds several times per day.
• Ability to walk up and down stairs and on unimproved areas of the site several times per day.
• This role is subject to a client‑mandated drug/alcohol testing policy. As such, employee may be subject to random drug/alcohol tests. A copy of this policy will be provided during employee onboarding and is available upon applicant request.

• New Mexico wastewater treatment operator certification “D” level or higher.
• Two (2) years or more operating an industrial wastewater treatment plant.
• DOT licensed driver with water tanker certification a plus.

• Job sites may be located at various elevations, including mountain environments at elevations above 8,000 feet, depending on the site.
• Exposure to differing temperature levels, including extreme heat and extreme cold, snowy conditions.
• Required use of correct PPE, including safety glasses, hearing protection, high‑visibility clothing, steel‑toed work boots and anti‑slip footwear devices, occasional use of a respirator is required.
• Manual dexterity required to use equipment.
• Prolonged periods of standing, walking, reaching, balancing, kneeling, crouching, crawling and ascending stairs throughout facility.
• Walking the process floor and hiking unimproved areas of the site, walking may exceed several miles per day.
