Overview

The UWC-USA program – a two-year experience that integrates our Academic, Co‑curricular, and Residential curricula – prepares students to serve as catalysts for greater unity, peace and sustainability in the world. We support students in the practice of our mission during their two years on campus and challenge them to live our mission for a lifetime.

The Admissions office at UWC-USA plays a critical role in the institution. The office selects students who coalesce into a diverse, talented group that, at its very best, brings excellence and vibrancy to the classroom and community.

Admissions in UWC is a unique enterprise, as students do not apply directly to the school, but rather through national selection committees in ~155 countries, or through a Global Selection Program. The admissions office at UWC-USA also supports the U.S. national committee, which selects more than 60 U.S. Davis Scholars each year to attend UWC-USA and the other 17 UWCs around the world.

As a result, the admissions office must be well‑versed in a range of skills, from creative marketing and targeted communications, to enrollment management and deep international and intercultural understanding.

The Assistant Director of Admissions supports the Director of Admissions in a variety of key areas. This is a demanding, fast‑paced role, with a high volume of paperwork, multiple requests from different constituents, and many critical deadlines that must be met on time. The role also requires serving as liaison between the school and the U.S. Government through the Student Exchange and Visitor Information System as a Designated School Official;

the role is quite often the first point of contact for students, applicants, parents, national committees, with UWC‑USA. This role also directly works with students, in support of their applications to UWC‑USA, I‑20 visa issues or questions. Another primary objective is to support the school's efforts to select a robust cohort of students with the US Selection Committee and requires significant attention to the organization of thousands of external documents electronically.
