JOB SUMMARY: New London High School Athletics Department is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated High School Volleyball Coach to lead our volleyball program. The ideal candidate will have a passion for volleyball and a commitment to fostering the athletic and personal development of student-athletes. The coach will be responsible for planning and executing practices, organizing competitions, and promoting sportsmanship and teamwork.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Program Management: Develop and implement a comprehensive training program for the volleyball team, including daily practices, conditioning, and skill development.
  • Team Development: Coach and mentor student-athletes, focusing on both individual and team skills. Encourage sportsmanship, teamwork, and a positive attitude.
  • Competition Preparation: Prepare the team for matches and tournaments, including strategic planning, match preparation, and in-game coaching.
  • Recruitment and Retention: Work with school administration to recruit and retain student-athletes for the volleyball program.
  • Communication: Maintain clear and effective communication with athletes, parents, and school administration. Provide regular updates on team progress, schedule changes, and other relevant information.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with school policies, league regulations, and safety protocols. Keep accurate records of practices, matches, and player performance.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Certification: Must hold a valid State of Connecticut Coaching Certification. First Aid, CPR, and Concussion Certification are required.
  • Experience: Previous coaching experience in volleyball, preferably at the high school or collegiate level, is highly desirable.
  • Skills: Strong knowledge of tennis techniques, strategies, and rules. Demonstrated ability to effectively teach and develop players.
  • Personal Attributes: Demonstrated interest in and aptitude for performing the responsibilities of the position. Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes while promoting sportsmanship and teamwork.
  • Additional Requirements: Must pass a background check and meet any additional requirements set by the school or district.
Working Conditions
  • This is a part-time, seasonal position typically involving after-school hours and weekends for practices and matches.
  • Must be able to work in various weather conditions and maintain a flexible schedule.
