Work Schedule:
Intermittent (0-19 hours/week)
- Set up food service counters, steam tables, dining room tables, and side service stands with hot and cold food, including meats, vegetables, salads, desserts, bread, butter, and beverages.
- Serve food cafeteria‑style to diners and family‑style by placing dishes on tables and refilling as necessary.
- Make coffee in large urns according to number of servings desired, with responsibility for timing and brewing.
- Prepare fruit and vegetable salads such as fresh fruit, tossed greens, tomato and lettuce, and lettuce wedges.
- Serve food in standard portions by placing uniform amounts in small dishes or glasses in prescribed quantities.
- Make simple sandwiches and pack box lunches.
- Clean kitchen and dining area equipment, wash dishes, pots, pans, coffee urn, glasses, and flatware; operate mechanical dishwasher and maintain water and detergent levels.
- Clear and clean dining tables; sweep, mop, and wax floors; dispose of food waste and trash; move heavy garbage cans; assist unloading supply trucks and storing supplies.
- Independently complete work as scheduled after initial oral or written instructions when changes or new assignments are made. Supervisor periodically checks that work is done on time and according to instructions.
- Adhere to safety regulations and standards, use required safety equipment, and report hazards, injuries, occupational illness, and/or property damage to immediate supervisor.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Previous work experience in a food service facility.
- Experience with common sanitation standards in handling and serving food.
- Ability to read and understand written material and follow instructions, and perform simple arithmetic.
- Must be able to obtain a Food Handler's Certificate and/or complete food handler's training.
- Physically able to frequently lift objects weighing up to 40 pounds and continuously stand, walk, stoop, reach, push, pull and bend for long periods of time.
- One year or more of food service experience.
