DKW is currently seeking a Network Administrator to support our team. The individual hired for this position will provide support for our government customers located in New London, CT. This is an onsite position that may require occasional after-hours or weekend work to address critical issues or perform network maintenance.
OverviewThe Network Administrator will be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and support of our government client's network infrastructure. They will ensure the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the communication systems that are critical for mission success.
Key Responsibilities- Install, configure, and maintain an organization’s local area network (LAN), data communications network, operating systems, and physical and virtual servers.
- Monitor network performance and ensure system availability and reliability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve network outages and performance issues in a timely manner.
- Implement and maintain network security policies and procedures in accordance with government standards.
- Manage firewalls, VPNs, switches, VLANs, IP address spaces, and routing protocols.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including network diagrams and configuration templates.
- Collaborate with the security team to perform regular network security assessments and audits.
- Assist in network emulation/virtualization, analysis, planning, and coordination between network and data communications hardware and software.
- Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution and to coordinate network-related projects.
- Candidate MUST be a U.S. citizen and possess an active Secret security clearance.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of proven experience in a network administration role.
- Hands‑on experience with networking hardware from vendors such as Cisco, Juniper, or Brocade.
- Solid understanding of networking protocols (e.g., IP, BGP, OSPF), TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP.
- Must have an IAT Level II certification (such as CompTIA Security+).
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field such as computer science, information technology, or engineering.
- Advanced certifications like Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP) or Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP).
- Experience with network monitoring and management tools (e.g., Solar Winds, Wireshark, Nagios).
- Familiarity with VoIP, wireless technologies, and virtualized network environments.
- Experience working in a DoD or other federal government environment.
