Responsible for creating a dynamic, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment that fosters student growth academically, socially, and emotionally.
Relationship Within the OrganizationThe elementary teacher is directly responsible to the Principal.
Duties/Responsibilities- Supports ISAAC's Core Values and Beliefs About Learning and the Vision of the Graduate.
- Instructs students through lessons that are engaging and motivate all students to succeed in the common core state standards.
- Adapts lesson materials and methods to develop relevant sequential assignments and lesson plans that guide and challenge students.
- Develops lesson plans and supplementary materials compatible with ISAAC's instructional philosophy and congruent with the goals of the school.
- Provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student and subgroups of students.
- Evaluates the academic and social growth of students and keeps accurate and appropriate school records as necessary.
- Encourages students to think independently and to express original ideas.
- Promotes student discussion through the daily use of Accountable Talk.
- Evaluates each student's progress in meeting the course grade-level standards.
- Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive classroom environment.
- Identifies student needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve problems.
- Communicates with parents and SRBI Team on student progress.
- Supervises students in assigned out-of-classroom activities during the workday.
- Participates in faculty committees and engages in Professional Learning Community activities.
- Administers summative assessments in accordance with the curriculum and SDE requirements.
- Models professional and ethical practices and behaviors in all activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Elementary Connecticut Certification (005,305)
- Classroom teaching experience and proven record of high achievement with elementary school students preferred
- Bachelor's degree from a competitive college or university
