JOB DESCRIPTION

ELEMENTARY TEACHER

General Scope of Responsibility
Responsible for creating a dynamic, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment that fosters student growth academically, socially, and emotionally.

Relationship Within the Organization
The elementary teacher is directly responsible to the Principal.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Supports ISAAC's Core Values?and Beliefs About Learning and the Vision of the Graduate.
• Instructs students through lessons that are engaging and motivate all students to succeed in the common core state standards.
• Adapts lesson materials and methods to develop relevant sequential assignments and lesson plans that guide and challenge students.
• Develops lesson plans and supplementary materials compatible with ISAAC's instructional philosophy and congruent with the goals of the school.
• Provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student and subgroups of students.
• Evaluates the academic and social growth of students and keeps accurate and appropriate school records as necessary.
• Encourages students to think independently and to express original ideas.
• Promotes student discussion through the daily use of Accountable Talk.
• Evaluates each student's progress in meeting the course grade-level standards.
• Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive classroom environment.
• Identifies student needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve problems.
• Communicates with parents and SRBI Team on student progress.
• Supervises students in assigned out-of-classroom activities during the workday.
• Participates in faculty committees and engages in Professional Learning Community activities.
• Administers summative assessments in accordance with the curriculum and SDE requirements.
• Models professional and ethical practices and behaviors in all activities.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

• Elementary Connecticut Certification (005,305)
• Classroom teaching experience and proven record of high achievement with elementary school students preferred
• Bachelor's degree from a competitive college or university
