BUILDING SUBSTITUTE TEACHER JOB DESCRIPTION

Reports to:
School Principal

Job Summary:
This position reports directly to the School Principal. Performs general office/student support duties and any combination of the below listed essential duties and responsibilities in the classroom to assist teaching staff and Administration

Duties/Responsibilities:
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Actual work assignments may vary from depending on the directions of the school administration. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Instructs and guides students to reinforce English language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, and other skills
  • Works with students individually and in small groups to reinforce learning and implement assigned programs
  • Assists in classroom preparations and strategies for reinforcing instructional materials and skills according to individual student needs
  • Utilizes classroom behavioral management systems to minimize disruptions, ensure a safe and orderly classroom, and ensure students are on task
  • Monitors students in non-instructional areas, such as supervising the student lunch programs and other related non-instructional areas
  • Assists students in all aspects of classroom instruction to maximize inclusion, learning, achievement of IEP objectives, etc.
  • Follows all applicable safety rules, procedures and regulations governing the proper manner of assistance for all students
Education and Experience:
  • Minimum undergraduate degree preferred
  • Communication skills necessary to interact with families, students, staff and visitors of ISAAC.
  • Experience working with secondary students or students who are at-risk, educationally disadvantaged, and/or possess a variety of disabilities preferred.
