LHH Recruitment Solutions is currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our client's organization in the New Lenox, IL area.
Key Responsibilities- Design, develop, and support mechanical components and assemblies for engineered products, from concept through production
- Create detailed 3D models, engineering drawings, and technical documentation using CAD software
- Prepare and maintain accurate Bills of Material (BOMs) and support data entry into ERP systems
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with manufacturing, operations, and project teams to ensure designs are manufacturable, cost‑effective, and meet quality standards
- Support new product introductions by developing and reviewing production processes and resolving design or assembly issues
- Assist with project planning, timelines, and coordination to ensure on‑time delivery of engineering milestones
- Support cost estimation and budgeting activities for new and existing products
- Engage with vendors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to support sourcing, design feasibility, and technical requirements
- Provide engineering support to customer‑facing teams as needed, including technical input for proposals and product documentation
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
- Experience designing mechanical components and assemblies in a manufacturing or product‑based environment
- Proficiency with 3D CAD and drafting tools (e.g., Solid Works, AutoCAD, or similar)
- Working knowledge of production processes, materials, and design for manufacturability
- Experience preparing engineering documentation, BOMs, and supporting ERP systems
- Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to adapt designs based on production or field feedback
- Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate across engineering, operations, and business teams
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet project deadlines in a fast‑paced environment
- Experience interacting with vendors or suppliers is a plus
