Industrial Custodian

This role is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of the warehouse. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring a safe and hygienic working environment for employees and visitors.

• 1st Shift: 8:00am
  -4:30pm, Monday to Friday
• Salary: $18.25/hr

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform a variety of cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and sanitizing work areas.
• Collect product trash - including boxes, tape, packaging, and collateral - from the product aisles.
• Conduct thorough checks of all corrugated trash to prevent accidental disposal of product/equipment.
• Manage the cardboard baler, including wire replacement, and maintain cleanliness in its vicinity
• Use floor scrubber as necessary.
• Empty waste receptacles and operate the trash compactor.
• Handles basic issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.
• Ensure familiarity with the whereabouts of Material Safety Data (MSD) books and maintain a practical understanding of the MSD data.
• Responsible for following warehouse safety regulations.
• All other duties assigned, based on the business the warehouse supports.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Understanding of both general and specific principles of housekeeping procedures and materials.
• Effective communication skills required to comprehend and execute work orders.
• Able to work efficiently in busy environments with frequent interaction with the public.
• Capacity to demonstrate reliability, adaptability, and dependability.
• Attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• General knowledge of OSHA Standards.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

• Previous experience working in a high-volume distribution, manufacturing, technical service (i.e. testing and repair) or forward logistics operation a plus.
• Previous experience with trash compactors and cardboard balers.
• Prior custodial experience.
• Basic computer knowledge.

Educational Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent work experience.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

• Warehouse environment.
• The ability to lift, push and/or pull up to 50 lbs., if necessary.
• The ability to stand and walk for an extended period of time, if necessary.
• The ability to bend, push, pull, twist, and reach in a continuous/repetitive capacity, if necessary.
