Overview
Deckhand / Crew member position streak provides fast passenger ferry services in the New York metropolitan area with high-speed catamaran vessels. In addition to commuter services, Seastreak offers special events, sightseeing cruises, day trips, and getaways year round.
Job SummaryDeckhands / Crew members operate and maintain equipment on the deck of a vessel to assist with docking and other operations. Responsibilities include greeting passengers, collecting tickets, throwing lines, participating in safety training, and ensuring the safety of our passengers. Deckhands are expected to provide exemplary customer service and follow the directions of the Captain and Mate. You will work within Seastreak’s Ferry Safety Management System.
Responsibilities- Operate and maintain deck equipment on the vessel
- Greet passengers and assist with boarding and safety procedures
- Assist with docking operations and line handling
- Participate in safety trainings and follow safety protocols
- Provide exemplary customer service and follow the directions of the Captain and Mate
- High School diploma required
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
- Must pass a pre-employment DOT drug test and enroll in Seastreak's random drug testing program required by the United States Coast Guard
- Must be able to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) or already possess one. Certain criminal records may exclude you from this.
Routes may include:
Highlands, NJ to NYC;
Atlantic Highlands to NYC;
Belford to NYC;
Highlands, NJ to Martha’s Vineyard;
Highlands, NJ to Nantucket;
Whale Watching Cruises;
Fall Foliage Cruises;
Other Special Event Cruises.
Multiple paths to advance within Seastreak to positions with more responsibility and higher compensation. Training for these positions can be completed while working as a deckhand by completing the necessary sign-off packet. Potential roles include:
