About this role

The Manager, Championships will play a critical role in the planning and execution of the U.S. Adaptive Open, balancing outside-the-ropes operations and inside-the-ropes competition support. The role supports the Championship Director by representing the USGA, contributing to projects in the Adaptive Golf space worldwide, and works closely with host clubs, volunteers, other USGA departments, and championship officials to deliver best-in-class championship experiences.

Responsibilities also include broader departmental initiatives and supporting other USGA championships as assigned.

What you'll do
  • In partnership with the Championship Director, lead the in-house administration and outside-the-ropes aspects of the U.S. Adaptive Open Championship:
    • Assist with championship entries, qualifying, and related processes.
    • Serve as main point of contact for players and foster relationships.
    • Oversee WR4GD counting events and results processing.
    • Direct management and shipping of seated golf carts for qualifying and the championship proper.
  • Plan and execute multiple inside- and outside-the-ropes aspects of the U.S. Adaptive Open in collaboration with the Championship Director, including:
    • Primary point of contact for Rules officials, managing their registration and communications.
    • Manage the on-site Rules office and assist with Rules committee-related activities.
    • Oversee player registration with Director of Championship Administration.
    • Assist with golf course set-up matters, pace of play, and Rules.
    • Lead hotel and support other contract negotiations, vendor relations and host venue space allocation.
    • Assist club with volunteer training, administration, courtesy cars, transportation, parking, course evacuation, scoring, trophy presentation logistics, etc.
  • Serve as point of contact for host club, local organizing committees, government officials, allied golf associations, professional and international golf associations, and vendors.
  • On-site liaison with the Championships team regarding any on-course, championship-related issues.
  • Manage championship build set-up and breakdown.
  • Help establish a five-year outline and strategy for the championship’s continued success and improvement.
  • Assist in future site evaluations for the U.S. Adaptive Open.
  • Serve as point of contact for USA event organizers and attend some competitions each year.
  • Manage the Adaptive Golf Handbook with updates and additional outward-facing materials that assist AGAs worldwide.
  • Support the Championship Director in representing the USGA and working on projects in the Adaptive Golf space worldwide.
  • Assist in the conduct of other USGA Championships as assigned, duties may include course marking, set-up, pace of play administration and serving as a Rules official.
Where you'll be

This role will be based at our Liberty Corner, NJ campus on a hybrid schedule. Employees are expected to spend 3 days per week in the office, Monday–Thursday. Remote candidates will be considered on a case-by-case basis. The Manager will be expected to travel 80–100 days per year.

What you bring
  • 4+ years of work experience in golf tournament administration or related field.
  • Experience conducting Amateur championships at local or state level.
  • Experience in Adaptive Golf championships is strongly preferred.
