Position SummaryCenter For Family Services is looking for a full time In Home Counselor for their Family Preservation Services (FPS) program. The FPS program provides short term, intensive, in-home, support and crisis intervention program for families located in Gloucester Counties. Families who have children at risk of out-of-home placement or who have children scheduled for reunification are referred by DCP&P. The goals of FPS are to prevent the unnecessary out-of-home placement of child(ren), to improve family functioning, and to make linkages to community resources while working towards the child welfare outcomes of safety, well-being, permanency and stability of children and families.
Dutiesand Responsibilities
The In Home Counselor maintains a caseload of 2-3 families and must be directly accessible to the families 24 hours a day/7 days a week in the event of a crisis. This individual provides, within program objectives, a variety of direct counseling services using individual, family and group methods. They utilize a full range of treatment/ intervention skills and techniques with an emphasis on crisis intervention and evaluates client's progress and modifies counseling services accordingly.
The In Home Counselor conducts 3, 6, and 12 month follow-ups of families to determine success of FPS intervention. They complete promptly and accurately all statistical and other reports required for supervisory and administrative purposes, and records case material promptly. The In Home Counselor is comfortable working with children and families and must be reliable, dependable, creative and organized with excellent communication skills.
They are skilled at home counseling, intensive case management, and crisis intervention.
- Two years' experience in home counseling
- Current driver's license with a good driving record of at least three years
- Vehicle with current insurance and registration
