As a fire alarm service technician, you will be responsible for installing, programing, testing, maintaining, and repairing fire alarm and suppression systems. Ensuring compliance with NFPA codes and local regulations by troubleshooting issues, conducting inspections (like smoke detectors, egress lights, extinguishers), reading blueprints, and documenting work for commercial and residential clients, often requiring certifications and being on-call for emergencies.
Key Responsibilities
Installation &
***** Set up and configure new fire alarm, security, and suppression systems, including wiring and device placement.
Maintenance &
***** Perform routine inspections, test components (detectors, control panels, sirens), clean devices, replace batteries, and fix malfunctions.
***** Diagnose and resolve technical issues, responding to service calls and emergency situations.
Compliance &
***** Ensure all work meets NFPA 72, local, and state codes; complete detailed inspection reports and activity logs.
Customer
***** Explain system operation to clients and provide effective solutions for their needs.
Code
***** Stay updated on the latest fire safety regulations and standards.
Essential Skills & Qualifications Technical *****
Ability to read blueprints/schematics, use hand/power tools, differentiate wires, and perform basic programming.
***** NICET certification is a plus
