Mechanic II

Position Summary

Hours:

Monday - Friday, 7 AM - 3:30 PM with rotating on call off hour and weekend standby. Overtime as needs dictate.

Basic Function:
Performs construction and maintenance on Elizabethtown Gas Company distribution systems.

• Perform construction and maintenance on distribution systems
• Installation of mains and services
• Repair gas leaks
• Pipe coating
• Locate and mark-outs
• Deactivate and activate mains and services
• Lubricate and maintain valves
• Perform plastic fusion
• First response to potential leaks and other gas-related emergencies
• Complete all associated paperwork for the above tasks
• Operate a Kubota and Backhoe

Required Experience:

construction work, familiarity with air tools and construction equipment, valid NJ Driver's License.

Preferred Skills/Background: CDL.

Required Background:
High School diploma or equivalent academic education and experience.

• Work in all types of weather conditions
• Lift 100 lbs.
• Operate jackhammers & rotary drills
• Shovel to hand excavate
• Wear a full-face respirator
• Hours/day of standing or operating in confined spaces (trench)
• May work for up to 16 hours straight during emergency conditions
• Drive company vehicles short distances during the day
• Work Stand-By (24-hour on-call)
• Require bending, kneeling, operating tools in confined space conditions

Start Rate - 32.94 USD (base salary only). Total compensation includes benefits, bonuses, and other components.
