OverviewAt Hackensack Meridian Health, the safety and well‑being of patients, staff, and visitors are a top priority. The Security Officer will patrol the Medical Center, maintain access control, respond to incidents, and provide high‑quality guest services.
Responsibilities- Conduct continuous patrols on foot or in a vehicle, identifying and addressing security or safety violations.
- Respond promptly to all calls and codes for assistance, handling emergent and non‑emergent situations.
- Provide continuous coverage, controlling access and assisting patients, visitors, and staff.
- Maintain and control access to all facilities owned or operated by Hackensack Meridian Health.
- Ensure safe traffic flow and enforce parking regulations in parking lots.
- Investigate unusual occurrences, interview witnesses, and collect accurate information.
- Participate in fire drills, perform fire watches, and facilitate inspections by the regional safety function.
- Escort team members and visitor vehicles as requested.
- Report for duty in clean, complete uniform with photo and security badge.
- Inspect outer buildings, grounds, and parking lots, coordinating with facilities for fire and life safety hazards.
- Inspect packages leaving the Medical Center according to policy.
- Prepare and submit incident reports and a daily activity log at the end of each shift.
- Maintain security equipment in good working condition and report damage to the Security Leader.
- Keep Security Leaders informed of all matters affecting safety and security.
- Comply with all Medical Center Code of Conduct regulations and department policies, including parking rules.
- Complete all in‑service training, lectures, and programs as assigned.
- Attend all mandatory departmental or special meetings.
- Work in all areas of the Medical Center, including parking lots and outer buildings, regardless of weather conditions.
- Execute physical security components of the emergency management plan when an emergency occurs.
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned by Security Leadership.
- Adhere to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
- High School diploma, GED, or equivalent program.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite).
- 2 years of college credits.
- Previous Security Officer or law‑enforcement experience.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Full state, county, federal, and license checks conducted biennially.
Minimum rate: $20.32 per hour.
Job Duties (Additional Detail)- Base compensation may vary based on market data, experience, education, skills, geographic location, internal equity, budget, and grant funding.
- Potential eligibility for performance‑based incentives, bonuses, or commissions.
- Eligibility for shift differentials for evening, night, or weekend work.
Full‑time and part‑time positions (20+ hours/week) offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, vision, paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and retirement.
