Cook- Opa's Pizza

Opa's Pizza is looking to hire new cooks who will be responsible for preparing a brief menu of dishes for our customers. Duties will include prepping meals by weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients, cooking meals, checking ingredients for freshness, and arranging the dishes. You will also ensure that the kitchen and equipment are properly cleaned and maintained.

To be successful in this job, you will need thorough experience with hot and cold food preparation. Culinary school education is preferred, and prior experience in a related position is an advantage.

• Prepare ingredients according to recipes (weighing, chopping, and peeling vegetables, cutting meat etc.)
• Ensure all food and other items are stored properly preserving freshness and inspect products and supplies as needed
• Work well under pressure and within the time limit
• Ensure an orderly kitchen area, equipment and utensils are cleaned and sanitized
• Help lead and inspire our kitchen staff with the restaurant manager
• Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment and comply with safety regulations and procedures
• Control and minimize waste

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Prior experience in related food and beverage service and food preparation positions.
• Thorough experience with hot and cold food preparation.
• Strong working knowledge of food preparation techniques, cooking methods, and safety and sanitation practices
• Able to handle work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work in a team
• Very good communication skills
• Physical ability to meet the demands of the job including, lift and carry up to 30 pounds, frequent standing, stooping, squatting, twisting, and moving, ability to stand for the duration of the shift.
• Ability to pass a food service sanitation course
• Ability to read, comprehend, and follow recipes
