Quality Assurance Technician
Our client, a major fishing and seafood processing company, is seeking a Quality Assurance Technician for their Cape May and/or Bridgeton, NJ facilities to ensure that all seafood products meet company quality standards, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations. This role involves performing routine quality inspections, collecting production data, completing detailed reports—primarily in Excel—and supporting continuous improvement initiatives within the production area.
Key Responsibilities Quality Control & Product Inspection- Conduct daily quality assurance checks on seafood products to verify compliance with safety, freshness, and specification requirements.
- Inspect raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods for quality defects or deviations.
- Monitor critical control points (CCPs) and ensure compliance with HACCP, GMP, and other food safety programs.
- Report any non-conformances immediately and assist in corrective actions.
- Collect and record data from the production area, including temperatures, weights, product conditions, and process observations.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections and test results in accordance with internal procedures.
- Communicate findings with production supervisors, QA management, and relevant departments.
- Complete daily, weekly, and monthly QA reports using Excel.
- Organize and analyze quality data to identify trends, deviations, or potential issues.
- Ensure reports are accurate, complete, and submitted on time.
- Support food safety programs, audits, and regulatory inspections.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal seafood processing regulations.
- Follow all sanitation, safety, and hygiene procedures.
- Work closely with production teams to ensure quality standards are met throughout all stages of processing.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures.
- Experience with Excel (data entry, basic formulas, tables).
- Ability to work in cold or wet production environments common in seafood processing facilities.
- Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 30 lbs., and be comfortable working in refrigerated environments.
- Previous experience in quality assurance or food manufacturing (seafood industry experience is a plus).
- Knowledge of GMP and food safety regulations.
