“Assistant Nurse Manager” is a professional, registered nurse who is a skilled communicator, collaborator and authentic leader. The ANM supports the organization in the execution of the nursing strategic plan and priorities. The ANM actively participates in unit and hospital decision-making and provides meaningful recognition to others. The ANM provides operational and administrative support to Nurse leadership. This position coordinates staffing, supports throughput, quality and safety outcomes, staff competency, hiring, clinical and staff corrective actions, unit efficiency, quality care and other departmental activities to support the mission, vision and values of Hackensack Meridian Health.

The ANM, in collaboration with the Nurse Manager, assesses, plans, implements, monitors and evaluates nursing practice and the nursing care delivery system with direct supervision of front-line staff.

Responsibilities
  • Interpret, support, and communicate policies, standards and procedures.
  • Serve as a role model for staff in all aspects of nursing (professionalism, quality care).
  • Assist in identifying cost containment measures by identifying alternative measures of product utilization within the department.
  • Serve on-call based on unit requirements.
  • Assume special projects as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
  • Adhere to HMH organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
Qualifications
  • NJ State Professional Registered Nurse License.
  • AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS HCP) Certification.
  • National Certification acceptable to the Magnet Recognition Program and appropriate to your current specialty (within two years of hire).
  • Minimum of an associate degree in Nursing or a diploma in Nursing.
  • BSN in progress and/or willing to acquire within three (3) years of hire. (

    Note:

    applies to team members hired on or after February 2025). Advanced master’s degree in nursing may satisfy the BSN requirement (e.g., Associates to MSN).
  • Minimum 3 years of recent nursing experience in the respective specialty or equivalent. Exceptions may be made for internal candidates on a case-by-case basis (e.g., candidate has a history of hospital administration education/experience).
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing patient needs, accountability for improving patients’ lives, strong teamwork, commitment to ongoing education, and a passion to deliver high-quality care with a patient focus.
  • MSN preferred.
  • Supervisory or charge nurse experience preferred.
Job Duties

The starting rate of pay is provided for informational purposes only and is not a guarantee of a specific offer.     Compensation is determined in a manner consistent with compensation ranges for similar roles within the organization.

    Departmental budgets and any grant funding associated with the job position may impact the pay that can be offered.

Some jobs may also be eligible for performance-based incentives, bonuses, or commissions not reflected in the starting rate. Certain positions may also be eligible for shift differentials for work performed on evening, night, or weekend shifts.

In addition to our compensation for full-time and part-time (20+ hours/week) job positions, HMH offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, vision, paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and retirement benefits. Minimum rate of $ Annually.
