Position Summary
The Critical Care Advanced Practice Provider (APP), including Nurse Practitioners (NP) or Physician Assistants (PA), will work under the supervision of the critical care attending to provide comprehensive care for patients in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU). The APP will primarily care for post‑operative patients following cardiac, thoracic, vascular, and general surgery procedures, along with managing ICU‑type patients with complex conditions.
This role involves close collaboration with surgeons, intensivists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to deliver high‑quality, evidence‑based care in a fast‑paced, high‑acuity environment.
- Manage multiple critically ill patients with varied conditions.
- Perform comprehensive physical assessments and interpret diagnostic results.
- Conduct hemodynamic and ventilator management.
- Document daily progress notes and conduct ICU‑related procedures.
- Provide patient/family education and facilitate meetings.
- 1–2 years of ICU experience.
- Education:
Master’s in Physician Assistant studies or APN, or equivalency recognized by NJ Law. - Licensure:
Current BLS, DEA, CDS, ACLS, NCCPA certification or board certification as nurse practitioner. - Licensed to practice in the State of New Jersey.
- 3–5 years of ICU experience.
- Master’s degree in Physician Assistant or APN programs.
- Current BLS, DEA, CDS, ACLS, NCCPA certification or board certification as nurse practitioner.
- NY State licensure to practice.
- Physician Assistant national certification (as applicable).
- Ability to evaluate, diagnose, consult, and provide direct patient care to medical and surgical critically ill patients.
- Manage resources efficiently to ensure cost‑effective patient care.
- Demonstrate compassion and respect for patients, families, and collaborating staff.
- Proficient in ultrasound‑guided central line and arterial line placement.
- Starting salary range: $126,000 – $168,500.
