Ameri Corps Program & Operations Assistant
The Ameri Corps Program & Operations Assistant will work closely with the Chief Operating Officer and Program Director, and occasionally with the Executive Director. This entry-level role provides hands-on experience in program operations, organizational management, communications, and development. The Program & Operations Assistant will primarily support administrative and operational functions, while also contributing to programmatic, development, and marketing initiatives that strengthen Home Works Trenton’s impact.
Program Development & Operations
Support the research, planning, and coordination of programming activities and events.
Assist with curriculum development, including research, lesson planning, and related tasks.
Assist in tracking program success metrics, performing data visualization.
Serve as a bus aide during weekday afternoons (and mornings) if needed.
Remain adaptable and uphold Home Works values for incidents/situations that arise.
Organizational Operations
Assist in maintaining accurate records and data in systems such as Salesforce, Google Drive, and Asana to support cross-team transparency and efficiency.
Provide administrative support for internal planning, including preparing materials for meetings, tracking deadlines, and follow-up items.
Support facility operations related to the new campus dormitory, including researching and contacting vendors, tracking and ensuring timely completion of work order.
Assist with coordinating administrative tasks and internal communications to support operational readiness and ongoing facility needs.
Step in to support in-person operational needs in emergencies or staff shortages, staying overnight as needed.
Communications and Marketing
Assist in executing Home Works marketing strategy.
Assist in developing marketing material on Canva or other design platforms for social media platforms, Mailchimp, mailings, press releases, etc., to reach various target audiences, such as scholars, families, volunteers, community partners, donors, and more.
Update and maintain the Home Works website, portals, and forums.
Assist in writing blog posts for our website and submit articles to newspapers.
Track and analyze marketing success metrics and write quarterly reports to report data.
Assist in all aspects as needed to help Home Works achieve measurable goals within marketing and communications.
Development
Assist in researching grant opportunities and potential funding sources.
Support the preparation of grant applications and reports, including compiling data and drafting narratives.
Help draft thank-you letters and acknowledgment communications to donors and partners.
Assist with planning and executing fundraising and donor events, including logistical support, volunteer coordination, and event follow-up.
Help create materials for donor engagement, such as impact stories, newsletters, and campaign updates.
Collaborate with the team on special fundraising projects or initiatives as needed.
The Ameri Corps Program & Operations Assistant’s goal is to support Home Works Trenton’s mission by helping ensure smooth program delivery, strong organizational systems, effective communications, and impactful development efforts. We hope the person in this role will have a passion for education, social justice, and community building, and be excited to gain hands-on experience in nonprofit operations and programming.

Monday–Thursday, 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM; occasional Fridays as needed to complete service hours.
Living Allowance Stipend: $10,800
Education Award: $3,697.50, eligible upon successful completion of service term hours
